It's beginning to look a lot like.... SUMMER!!!!
So, I'm sorry I have not updated in a while now; I was being so good there for a while lol. But I'm back mo-fo's! AND SO IS THE SUN! No more post about annoying snow, not at least until next year lol. Well this weekend was pretty awesome; I got to see my buddy Doug who I haven't seen in forever! We went to a party in the SW, with some of his med school friends and then we went out to Nellies afterwards. Nellies has seriously turned into my favorite bar here in DC, you can pretty much catch me there at some point every weekend. Well I end up getting really drunk (story of my life right) and really wanted to go to Town. So, I try to convince Doug to go, but he is so set on not going because he is tired. So, my drunk ass ends up going to Town alone, WTF?!? But, I met these really cool people and they ended up being my new BFF's. [Side note, so I got a new digital camera this weekend, and didn't remember I met new friends until checking my camera the next day to this]
Yeah, I know I'm crazy. So, Saturday I had some of my buddies come up and visit. I showed them around a little bit, and we went and grabbed dinner, nothing huge. The cherry blossom festival ended in a fireworks show, on the waterfront, woot! So we all watched the fireworks from my balcony, it was pretty awesome. On Sunday we walked around and I finally took a trip to the White House; this is my first time ever going.
It ended up being a very great and relaxing weekend, other than Friday, I didn't do anything too crazy, and I was able to just hang out and enjoy great weather with friends. I am really looking forward to the spring/summer in DC, and this weekend was just a glimpse into what to expect. I will be back permanently in two weeks, and I am so excited to be back for good, and not just the weekends. Now that I've got a new camera, expect more pictures to come! Hope you guys enjoyed your weekend as much as I did!

Good Eats and BAD Eats
So on Friday night, and and a my friend decided to check out this restaurant called Busboys and Poets in the U St area. The name of the restaurant inspired by the African American poet Langston Hughes, and is supposed to be a place for artist/writers to work in a creative atmosphere and enjoy great food while they're at it. I loved this place; it had a great vibe to it, and a superfluous diverse menu, that would satisfy all types of urges no matter what you were feeling. I had the salmon, which was very good.
This is my food after I attacked it when it was first brought out to me; it was soooo good. Lol. I managed to snap some shots of the restaurant as well.
Though this was a great choice, we also made a not so great choice of restaurants on Saturday afternoon. So, I've had this app on my iPhone called Urbanspoon; you know that app that you always play with whenever everyone is trying to make a decision on where to eat, but you NEVER actually go to any of the options it picks out for you. Well I was feeling spontaneous on Saturday, and decided what the hell, I'm going to eat at whatever restaurant this app spits at me. So I shake it, and the first restaurant to pop up is this place called Eat First in Chinatown. I think to myself, hmmm it's cheap, and it's walking distance from my place; sounds like a plan! So we go, and we get there, and there are literally dead chickens hanging in the back. DEAD mother FREAKING chickens. WHAT THE BUMP! If you look closely in the back right of this photo behind the coke fridge you can see them.
SO for some reason, my dumbass thinks it's a good idea to eat here anyway. Well I get my food, and it actually looks and smells great.
So, I eat this entire plate of food; yeah I know, it was a lot. I eat this food, and it's great. 5 hrs late, I seriously feel like I'm someone has stuck a needle in my stomach; I couldn't move or walk, and I felt like I wanted to throw up. IT WAS THOSE DAMN CHICKENS! My suggestion is if you are ever in Chinatown, please DON'T eat here!! I felt so horrible, I ended up catching a fever, my head starting spinning, it was bad.
Well that's my two cents on places to eat and places not to eat in DC!

What the Hell is Going On?
So this weekend was a wonderful weekend spent in DC, great weather, relaxing, pretty much the best weekend I've had in a very long time. On Saturday I decided to go out to the mall (which is conveniently walking distance from my apartment) and I grabbed a book, picked a nice little inviting bench out in the mall, and began people watching and reading. I took a few pictures too while I was there; I could see that the tourist are starting to come out again, I can't wait until the spring time.
On Saturday night, I went out with one of my co-workers to this bar called Cobalt. It was blast, I had a great time, but I ended up throwing up in the end. I haven't thrown up after drinking since I was like a freshman in college. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like Cobalt. I think it's the crowd, they just seem to be the sketchy people of DC. I am more a fan of the clean cut professionals, the type that you see at Nellie's. So, I am scratching Cobalt off of my list of places to go, not to mention I saw a certain someone that I did NOT want to see at Cobalt, lol, yeah don't you hate that.
Ok, so I am leaving a lot of details out about my weekend. But as things develop I will expose some more details, let just go with the flow...

Why I Avoid Bars in VA
So last week, the Virginia General Assembly passed a law allowing those who people to carry concealed weapons into bars and restaurants. Now, don't freak out now, this is was a well thought out plan, see the law also prevents those that bring a concealed weapon into bars and restaurants from consuming alcohol.
I mean, I don't know about you, but I take my gun with me whenever I'm going for 2am pancakes at iHop in Ballston, right? Or some nights I have to debate on what's more important, getting drunk off of my ass, or having my gun for protection.....
OK I'm sorry, this deserves a good WTF! No matter you standpoint, be it conservative, liberal, in between, this just makes me laugh. I mean I am all for gun rights, but I just think restaurants, and bars, are just places where your gun just isn't necessary. I mean this just puts way more pressure than needed (ok guy, since you're not drinking tonight, you're responsible for my M9). Yeah, I thought I'd give everyone the update, so all us actually in the district don't need to worry, we just need to avoid bars in VA. I swear if this were to ever to make it to the district, im NEVER going out in Adam's Morgan again!
